The Northville Chamber of Commerce is part of two communities, a township and city with a combined population of 34,500 people. It is located between Ann Arbor and Detroit and is a very walkable and active community. A great downtown with a strong school system and is close to major shopping and the Detroit International Airport.
General Responsibilities:
The Events Manager is responsible for managing an active events calendar with an emphasis on maximizing revenue. The Events Manager will report to the Executive Director of Northville Chamber of Commerce. The Events Manager will maintain a professional manner when dealing with all constituencies and always preserve a high level of confidentiality.
Authority and Accountability:
The Events Manager has the authority to carry out the job requirements and responsibilities and is accountable to the Executive Director.
Principal Duties:
Assist in all areas of event planning, from scheduling, implementation and evaluation of all Chamber events including small private membership events to major public events attracting more than 50,000 attendees
Assist in on-site elements/ benefits that correspond with sponsorship agreements
Assist in recruitment and supervision of event volunteers, supervisory and participation roll
Research and provide event analysis of current potential events
Prepares and maintains daily/weekly/monthly calendar of scheduled events, keeping appropriate personnel informed on calendar changes
Oversee several committee meetings for each corresponding events
Develop and execute marketing programs including social media, Chamber website, interactive media, social media, print materials and outbound email marketing
Prepare electronic files for print production, event PowerPoints, video and display advertisements
Create and submit press releases, under the direction of the Executive Director
Perform Clerical support functions as necessary, including typing, copying, and answering phone calls as required
Assist in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitors expenditures, for events while working to remain on or exceed budgeted sales goals
Participates in the development of operating goals and objectives for marketing and events
Recommends, implements, and administers methods of procedures to enhance operations and events
Research other organizations events to improve existing events and provide information for the development of new events
Perform clerical support functions as necessary, including typing, copying, filing, and answering the telephone as required
Qualifications:
Preferable to have detailed understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
Be innovative and willing to work with challenges that the members and community may have
Associates degree in related fields
Prior event manager experience preferred
Must be detail oriented
Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment
Professional level of verbal and written communication skills
You must be an extremely positive and outgoing individual who is completely focused on providing members and community with a memorable experience
Effectively responds to and proactively handles members requests and concerns
Applicants must be able to pass pre-employment background check
